The UMMB has more than 150 years of history, traditions, personalities, and stories behind the experience students have today. For new band parents, learning some of that history can offer a deeper appreciation for the traditions their students are becoming part of—and for the generations of band members who came before them.
Much of that story has been preserved on the Band Alumni website through both contemporaneous accounts and archival materials. From historic milestones and performances to photographs, publications, videos, and firsthand stories, the site offers parents a chance to explore the history and lore that have shaped the UMMB.
